Overview
An exhibition or a collection has more moving parts than any one person can hold in their head. Storehouse is a consultancy for galleries, artists, collectors and estates: we run the parts of a project that sit outside your own expertise — the artwork lists, the agreements, the budgets, the cataloguing — without taking over the vision behind it.
Underneath the consultancy sits our own logistics operation: storage, transport, packing, installation and photography, from a secure, climate-controlled facility in Acton, north-west London. One team, one set of records, from the first condition report to the wall.
Case studies
Exhibition Consulting
We were brought in by the curator of a site-specific exhibition, staged inside a historic building with none of the usual infrastructure for showing art in place. The artwork list needed consolidating and confirming, several pieces required conservation or reframing before they could travel, and the loan and consignment agreements behind multiple lenders were still to be drafted and signed.
We consolidated the artwork list, arranged the necessary conservation and reframing, and managed the paperwork across the loans and consignments involved. A shipper was coordinated for packing and import and export documentation, and we oversaw the install and hang on site, alongside the practical detail specific to the venue — lighting, signage and visitor information — so that the building was respected while the exhibition still read as a coherent whole.
Exhibition ServicesCollection Management
A private collection of modern and contemporary art — several hundred paintings, sculptures, works on paper and books — existed across four locations, tracked unevenly across spreadsheets, drives and years of invoices and shipping paperwork. Nobody could say with certainty what was where or what condition it was in.
We surveyed every location, catalogued every object, and tracked down the paperwork behind each one — invoices, shipping records, condition reports, provenance — building it all into a single database, while arranging storage for works not on display and running the logistics of a house move. The database is now the client’s own, used for insurance, loan requests, and sharing provenance and shipping history with curators and dealers on request. Rotations, new acquisitions and storage are all logged in the same system and under the same roof.

Before working with Storehouse, the studio had outgrown its space. Paintings, drawings and photographs were accumulating with no secure place to keep them, and no consistent record existed of what had sold or what was out on loan.
We took the overflow into storage, catalogued and photographed each work to gallery standard, and arranged the framing, conservation, packing and UK transport where required. We now work closely with the studio, providing storage and transport between studio and gallery as exhibitions arise.
Storage & HandlingArtist Estate
On the artist’s death, the studio held several hundred works — paintings, drawings, photographs and books — with no catalogue, no settled record of what had been completed, and no clear indication of value.
We cleared the studio in full, photographing and cataloguing every work, and supported the valuation process required for probate. This called for judgement as much as handling: distinguishing finished works from studies and discards, and managing the removal of a lifetime’s studio materials — paints, pigments, tools — from the space. The estate now holds a complete catalogue that can be presented to galleries and museums, providing the foundation for future exhibitions.
